Trout Architects—Modern Hotel and Bar
Doing a little fishing on the web I came across Trout Architects (I know, bad play on words) out of Boise, Idaho. Their portfolio of projects reveal the talents of an architectural firm with an eye for the modern aesthetic and the subtle understanding of the importance of material relationships. Among the many wonder projects the one that interests me most however was the Modern Hotel and Bar. Located in the heart of the hip Boise neighborhood known as the Linen District, the Modern Hotel and Bar brings back the flavor of the 1950’s and 60’s era travel lodges that dotted the country from coast-to-coast — but with a refreshing new take. The Modern Hotel and Bar is complete with mid-century modern classics complemented with a fresh blend of new modern ones. This almost seamless meld of old and new gives it that ultra-hip vibe that makes you think that at any moment either Dean Martin or George Clooney might make an appearance at the bar to partake in some refreshments. I think I might see a trip out west in my near future.
