Mid-Century Modern Design Meets Modern Technology

The Vers Audio 1.5R features a hand crafted wooded cabinet that makes a really cool design statement in any room.
Deciding to make the departure of my beloved 1980’s faux wood, radio alarm clock with poor reception a positive one I recently set out to find a new alarm clock that would not only offer me the basic functions and needs that a good alarm clock should (an alarm), but would also complement the rest of the modern decor that fills our home. After a few random Google searches for modern alarm clocks I was unimpressed by the “techno future” options I saw. Then just yesterday while checking out the new additions to the Exclusively Home site I found the Vers Audio 1.5R , and fell in love. I generally try and avoid writing about products that our retail sister has to offer, but this was too perfect to pass up.
The Vers Audio 1.5R is one cool looking alarm clock and offers some cool features to boot. The solid wood body is hand finished and comes in several wood options including: Cherry, Natural Walnut, Dark Walnut, Bamboo and a White Gloss finish. The system offers an iPod and iPhone compatible doc along with an AM/FM tuner and switchable internal or external antenna. But this alarm clock’s cool factor doesn’t stop there. In an effort to offer a truly green friendly solution Vers has committed to replace every 1 tree they use in the production of their products with 100 new ones in a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and the US Forestry Service. Adding to the Vers sound systems “green” features is the energy-efficient Class D amplifiers and switching power adaptors that result in the Vers systems generally using about 50% less energy than similar system—very cool.
Although the Vers systems aren’t cheep (they’ll run you around $200 depending on the model you choose) the little extra design and environmental Karma you get out of buying such a cool “green friendly” option makes it worth it. I know I’m looking at putting a natural Walnut one in my room very soon.

The Vers iPod and iPhone cases surely make statement and the new open front version (availabe soon) wil probably be on the wish list of many people this coming year.
After contacting Vers customer service to find out a little more about there products I was excited to hear that they also offer real wood cases for both iPod and iPhone and will be offering a new open front version of these cases in the very new future so we’ll be watching for that.
